Meneguar at The Smell

After being let down on Thursday because I was unable to see Thurston Moore on Jimmy Kimmel my joy was revived once again on Saturday night when I went to the Smell to see one of my all time favorite bands; Abe Vigoda. Some fellow Chino-men are in that band and they totally kick ass. Unfortunately I was too busy moving around like a freak to take any pictures of them (I hardly have pictures of them at all due to this) but I did manage to snap pictures of the band that played just before them. They were this super guitar attack band from Brooklyn called Meneguar. They really kicked ass even though their set was really really predictable (being a huge Sonic Youth fan myself I noticed that was their main influence...hell, they even had Jazzmasters). I haven't been to the Smell in ages! It was so nice to be back. When I was a sophomore in highschool I used to go nearly every weekend. Now it seems like I go twice a year. I'm determined to frequent the place once again. Especially since NO AGE plays there all the time. They are one of my new favorite bands. They are the remains of one of my other favorite bands called The Wives. I seriously can't believe I haven't seen them yet. I remember when they first formed. I really want to see them this week. I think I just might.
